"Laskar Pelangi"
tells the story of the small children of the village Belitong. Child those
'small' who try to improve their future.
SD Muhammadiyah, looked so
fragile and pathetic compared to schools PN Timah (State Company of Timah).
They cornered in a huge irony precisely because poverty is in the midst of
riches PN Timah exploit their communal land.
Difficulty constantly
overshadows that village school. Schools are built on a sincere spirit and
pioneering two teachers, a school principal who is old, Mr. Harfan Efendy Noor
and young teacher, Mrs. Muslimah Hafsari, which is also very poor, trying to
maintain a great spirit of education with a wobble. School is almost dissolved
by the Department of Education school superintendent Sumsel for lack of
students,that school saved because an idiot child who an all-time schooling
never get a report card.
Schools who lived through
helping hand marginal donors in the community was so poor: dilapidated school
buildings, classrooms dirt floor, roof perforated, if the night is used to keep
livestock, even though chalk too expensive for schools that are only able to
hire teachers and principals with so many kilos of rice, so that the teachers
forced to support the family in other ways. The principals hoe a plot of garden
and teacher received stitches.
Nevertheless, if a miracle
happens every day in school from a distance looks like a building will
collapse. Everything happened because from the first day of the class the
principal and the mother of young teachers who just qualified SKP (Skill School
Princess) has won the hearts of eleven small children poor.
From time to time the two of
them work together to encourage the eleven children had been so confident,
brave to compete, in order to appreciate and put education as a very important
thing in life. They teach his eleventh so tough, persevering, not easy to give
up, and bravely face the difficulties of any kind. The second teacher that also
an accomplished teacher to produce a very smart students and they were able to
hone talents several other students. Mr. Harfan and Mrs. Mus also teaches love
their neighbor and very devoted to his eleventh. Both poor teacher that given
the nickname of the eleven disciples as the Laskar Pelangi.
Magic happens when school
Muhamaddiyah, led by one of Laskar Pelangi is able to win the carnival beat PN
school and wonders peaked when three children, members of the Laskar Pelangi (ikal,
Lintang, and Sahara) won the quiz beat PN schools and school- public. A feat
that for decades have always stolen schools PN.
No doubt, the most pathetic
school hit Muhamaddiyah when Lintang, the most genius student members of Laskar
Pelangi that had to quit school when only stayed one quarter completed junior
high school. He had to stop because he was the oldest son who had to support a
family, because when that father died.
Belitong again hit great
irony as a genius child must be out of school because of the costs and living
family, PN of Timah surrounding it became increasingly wealthy by exploiting
their ancestral lands.
Although early 90s
Muhamaddiyah school that finally closed down because it did was not able to
support themselves, but passion, integrity, his generous nature, and
perseverance are taught Mr. Harfan and Mrs. Muslimah remain alive in the hearts
of Laskar Pelangi. Finally, both that teacher can be proud because among the
eleven members of Laskar Pelangi now there was the representative of the
people, there being the research and development manager at one of the most
important multinational companies in the country, there is a gain international
scholarship then doing research at the University de Paris, Sorbonne and
graduated with honors with distinction S2 from a leading university in the UK.
All of that, pieces of moral
education and intellectual love instilled by Mrs. Mus and Mr. Harfan. Both
great people who probably never even get out of their own island in the
southernmost tip of Sumatra.
